ABOUT ASK – A long time collector and once upon a time national online seller of unique driftwood from great southeastern rivers and lakes. In 2012 he found inspiration and connection with what some would call “The Spirit of Creation” and began his journey as a humble contemporary driftwood folk artist. In 2015 ASK Driftwood Art became a featured artist at a local Gallery in Centre, (Cherokee, County) AL. Later, that same year, had the top selling booth in handmade folk art & décor, with one out of state buyer purchasing 17 pieces of his works. April, 2016, ASK Driftwood Art was asked to the Cherokee County Historical Museum, where he conducted a workshop on modern driftwood Folk Art and driftwood crafts. April – June, 2016 Became Featured Artist of the month at Cherokee County Historical Museum for 3 months consecutive. May, 2016 ASK adds a new signature “scented” dimension to his wax/glazed coating method. This is likely a first of a kind in the realm of driftwood sculpture art. Combining scent with the already sensuous visual intrigue of natural movement in his sculptures, this does deepen the level of artistic form and intensifies the complex enchantment between the work of art and one who beholds it. Two of his first scented works are “The Crux of Time” and “Star Child”. June, 25th 2016 – ASK Driftwood Art participated in the Cherokee County Artist Forum, where a large collection of his 2015 - 2016 driftwood sculptures and folk art tables were on exhibit, and did receive many compliments from attending artist and public. Over 100 works (large and small) of ASK are now displayed in homes throughout the Southeast from Texas to South Carolina with the earliest ones marked with a Key embedded or attached somewhere in/on the piece. June 14, 2016 Ask Driftwood Art was asked back to the Cherokee County Historical Museum to participate in the Collectors Exhibit on August 5, 2016. The appreciation and acclaim of his work has grown much larger than he ever expected. For ASK Art, this is just the beginning . |
Our History Resides in Natures' Memory of us.
Through the Spirit a connection of creation flows. It is then that the artist sees, feels and is moved to create as an extension of the Spirit. Some aspect of nature’s imprinting resonates in each driftwood piece worked- however simple or complex. Like weathered heartwood relics, Earth, Wind, Sun, and Water transforms with time a new being from there essence. Appreciation breaths in new life that reflects back the blessing of supernatural elegance. You may find connection with their imagery or personality so powerful as that of a modern-day family heirloom. Each a one of a kind. My work is light craft atop natures design. Vibrations of the past remain in decorative textures and deep wave like movements enhancing the visual appeal of natural contrast. This is the magic of the driftwood artist ASK. A WISDOMY Point Of Interest : in Viking mythology Odin created Ask from driftwood as the first human Cool Huh ? * And So The Spirit Flows with time ebbs and flows etc.........Driftwood tides and Reincarnation .
